Knowledge Mobilization Specialist

The Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) is a unique not-for-profit farm organization whose diverse membership has a significant presence in all agricultural areas of the province and across all major sectors. The mission of OSCIA is to facilitate responsible economic management of soil, water, air and crops through development and communication of innovative farming practices.

The Department of Research and Knowledge Transfer supports this mission by administering on-farm applied research initiatives, supporting those initiatives’ stakeholders and participants, and sharing the results of those projects with the membership and the industry.

The Department’s activities are supported by the Knowledge Mobilization Specialist, who reports to the Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer. We are seeking a Knowledge Mobilization Specialist to cover a fixed period of 1.5 years. This full-time (36.25h/week) contract will run from June 2024 until December 2025 (exact start and end dates reasonably negotiable).

Regional Communications Coordinator, Quinte Region

Are you an outgoing, ag-related individual in the Northumberland, Hastings, Prince Edward, or Lennox & Addington area?

Do you have a keen interest in networking with local farmers and ag-related businesses?

Quinte Soil and Crop Improvement Association is a not-for-profit, largely volunteer organization representing forward-thinking farmers, of all commodities, who share a keen interest in advancing sustainability. QSCIA is a local affiliate of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. We are actively looking for someone with ag-related experience to fill the part-time role of Regional Communications Coordinator.

Job duties include:
     • contributing to the regional newsletter
     • assisting in recruitment activities for new members
     • updating website pages (web design experience is considered an asset)
     • posting on social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
     • attending and reporting on local ag-related events while promoting association membership
     • managing advertising and subscriber accounts
     • helping to prepare grant applications and related claim reports for submission

This is a part-time position. Time commitments vary throughout the year but are anticipated to average 3-4 hours per week.

Greenbelt Foundation - Soil Health Specialist and Support

The Foundation is currently seeking to recruit a Soil Health Specialist. However, as an alternative approach to an internal Foundation staff role, we would welcome expressions of interest from leading farming and agricultural organizations with experience in recruitment and engagement of farmers in research programs involving soil health or other best management practices. A lead individual would be required, but organizations may wish to identify a small team or networks that could fulfill the functions outlined in the document here.
