The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, Maple Production Improvement Initiative supports maple syrup producer productivity and efficiency through funding for equipment and woodlot management. Projects will focus on:

  • Purchase and installation of new or used equipment or technology from an equipment dealer or supplier, that increases productivity, efficiency, and growth
  • Planning for tubing systems conducted by third-party service providers
  • Woodlot improvements conducted by a qualified third-party service provider, including tree marking or development of a forest plan

Eligible costs can be incurred retroactively to April 1, 2023.

What do you need to apply?

Carefully read the information in the Maple Production Improvement Initiative Program Guide as only eligible and complete applications will be considered. The Program Guide provides information on eligible activities and costs, available cost-share, required application documentation, and provides a link to the OSCIA Portal to apply.

Applications to the Maple Production Improvement Initiative are submitted electronically through the OSCIA Portal. You will need to create an account on the OSCIA Portal and then complete an enrolment for your business before you can apply. 

Applications are only accepted during application intakes.

The following must be included with an application submission:

  • Application Form
  • Valid premises identification (PID) number
  • If the applicant business does not have an FBRN, documentation to support an eligible exemption, or confirmation of enrolment in the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP), or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification
  • All applications require a business plan that includes a cost of production spreadsheet. Business plan minimum requirements are detailed in the Program Guide.
  • Quotes to support all proposed costs.

Applicants may receive 50% cost-share up to a maximum of $20,000 in funding per application.

Funding Statement

The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) is a five-year (2023-2028), $3.5-billion investment by federal‐provincial and territorial governments to strengthen competitiveness, innovation, and resiliency of the agriculture, agri‐food and agri‐based products sector. This includes $1 billion in federal programs and activities and a $2.5 billion commitment that is cost-shared 60 per cent federally and 40 per cent provincially/territorially for programs that are designed and delivered by the provinces and territories.
